What is Domestic Violence?

Domestic violence can take many forms. It may involve physical aggression, verbal abuse, emotional manipulation, forced sexual activity or financial control. Domestic violence crosses all age, racial, ethnic, nation-orientation, sexual, gender preference, spiritual and socioeconomic boundaries.

Any abuse, not just physical abuse is still a struggle for power and control and can lead to more aggressive actions in the future. The violence can cause severe physical emotional harm to adults and children.

If your spouse, life partner, boyfriend, girlfriend, someone you have a child with or someone you have been intimate with attacks you in any unwanted way, you are involved in domestic violence.
